Another Train Proposed Between Bengaluru and Thiruvananthapuram to Ease Ganesh Chaturthi Rush
To handle the extra rush of passengers expected around Ganesh Chaturthi, a proposal has been put forward for an additional train between Bengaluru Cantonment and Thiruvananthapuram North (Kochuveli). South Western Railway has sent this proposal to the Railway Board for approval.
Proposed Timings and Dates
This train has been proposed for just a single round trip. It would leave Bengaluru Cantonment on 11 September 2026 (Friday), with the return service departing Thiruvananthapuram North on 12 September 2026 (Saturday). The proposed schedule is as follows:

Other Details
This train would run with a rake of 20 ICF/LHB coaches. Its primary maintenance would be handled in the Bengaluru city area, with examination on arrival carried out at Thiruvananthapuram North. It has been proposed as a TOD, or demand-based service, meant to run just this once for the Ganesh Chaturthi period.
What's Next?
This is currently only a proposal, and it still needs approval from the Railway Board. South Western Railway has requested that it be cleared quickly given the festival season, since the proposed dates are very close at hand. RailJournal will bring you an update as soon as approval comes through.
